Happy 4th of July Everyone

Last year we arrived in San Diego at about 11:00 a.m. on the 4th of July. My daughter picked us up at the airport and we drove straight to the park on the waterfront to lay out our blanket and stake out our spot for the evening's activities. Later that afternoon, we returned with the whole family. Here are a few pictures of the evening's festivities.

Erin, Noah, Ethan and Luka all ready for the celebration to begin.

We all enjoyed a supper of pizza.

Erin had a ball with her cousins who she hadn't seen in almost a year and obviously, they had a ball with her too.

My beautiful daughter and her handsome hubby take a second from feeding kids to have their picture taken.

There were lots of boats sailing out in the harbor but this one caught my eye. Yeah, I know, I already posted it once this week!!

This is one of three barges spread up and down the harbor loaded with fireworks which all go off simultaneously. Amazing. We could see fireworks from all three plus displays from Coronado and a ways up the coast. Quite the show.

Obviously we weren't alone. This is why we staked out our spot so early in the day.

Almost showtime. Everyone is getting anxious.

Well, everyone except maybe Ethan who was tired and hungry and had no idea what the 4th of July was all about.

And finally, the end to a perfect day. Of course, I didn't take pictures of us fighting the crowds and walking a mile to the car with 4 kids!!

But, anyway, Happy 4th of July to all of you. I hope you have a great day and evening.

And to you, too!

This year, we had a block party on our little street, met the neighbors, and Noah and I are joining our neighbors for a trip to a local park to see the fireworks. The twins are staying home with daddy to go to bed at the usual time.

Oh, and did I mention Ethan figured out how to work the squirt gun?

A lovely picture story Snowbird...I enjoyed it immensely!

(...I'm also giggling at shama-lama mama's comment...one year, little Ethan is falling asleep just before fireworks and the next year he's working the squirt gun! hahahaha...yep, boys will be boys!)
