Fay, Fay, Go Away

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like she is going to go away. She has decided that Lee County and Sanibel look like a great place to spend a few hours. Sanibel is under a Voluntary evacuation right now and I would bet dollars to donuts (don't you just love that expression?) that it will go to mandatory in a few hours. But, I hope that is enough time to get everyone off of Captiva and Sanibel as landfall is supposed to be tomorrow morning. I would not want to be there if there is a storm surge. A surge back in the 20's was like 10 feet high. Not good when you live in a trailer that is about that high. Anyway, my friend, Diana, who lives in Ft. Myers and Gordon who called to tell me that our place was shut up and locked up will hopefully keep us informed of what is happening. Keep checking back for more information as I get it.

It's going to be a stressful 24 hours . . . I am thinking sunny positive thoughts (and checking noaa compulsively!)

It looks like you are going to be on the slightly friendlier side of the storm. If you can call it that. And they predict a lesser than expected surge.

We are leaving town VERY early in the morning. Call me while I am on the road if you want to talk!

...(sigh) the waiting is always the hardest part, isn't it? Hoping and wishing that it will all be alright and just another storm for your home in Sanibel to weather...
