On The Beach

Sometimes I have to pinch myself to believe that living on Sanibel is real and not just a dream. This island is known as the 3rd best shelling location in the world. And I LOVE shelling. Then WHY don't I get to the beach more???? I keep asking myself that. I went out today for a couple of hours. I have to admit that this is about the first time in 6 weeks that I have been to the beach. I have either been too busy, too lazy, or have been on vacation. Last week, apparently, shelling was amazing. Less so today. Oh don't get me wrong there were lots of shells on the beach but just not the ones I was looking for.

But, you can't beat the view!! Especially when there is no one around but you. And there are always lots of birds to look at.

OK, so there weren't exactly the kind of shells I was looking for. I love to find whelks, murexes, Sharks Eyes, Cones, etc. Today I discovered that it was ideal to look for miniatures so I put my Sanibel Stoop to good use and found the following goodies.

Too busy? Too lazy? If I were you, there without little children, I would pack up a lawn chair, a book or knitting or whatever and go sit on the beach for the day. I would never clean house. Wait, I don't clean house now either! lol... I like to be warm and hear water running...beats the heck out of sitting in the house any day. I hope you are able to get to the beach more this week and enjoy the fresh air!

Is that an opercu-thingy in the first shell picture? Tootie found one for me but I didn't see it laying on the ground -- I'm trying to develop The Eye!

Fabulous minis! And you even found some wentletraps!! Very cool! My cousin always finds those on Sanibel! She sent me a small collection of minis a few years ago.

Don't you just LOVE a deserted beach??!! I don't think I could live on Sanibel and NOT go to the beach every day.

I'm glad you made a run to the beach. :-) Maybe you are just so busy helping the critters, that you don't have time to just sit and watch them. :-)

Thank you so much for all of your updates, it gives me my daily Sanibel fix. My hubby and I feel in love with sanibel crossingthe causeway on our first trip 5 years ago and return 2x a year ever since except when my hubby had back surgery and could not fly. This Oct is special because we are coming for our longest trip 26 days and we are bringing my parents on their first trip the island. Thank you for always keeping me connected, between you and trip advisor I feel like I can keep up on things.
