Window Views-Holyrood Abbey

MaryT/The Teach has started a new meme called Window Views. For some reason I have always been intrigued with taking pictures of windows or through windows so this meme was made just for me! Hop on over to to Window Views and do some more window peeping.

In 2004, we took our first of two trips to Scotland. One day we walked down the Royal Mile from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace and Abbey. We toured the palace first. Mr. Snowbird was tired from the long walk and didn't particularly want to go into the Abbey so I went alone. The Abbey is only a ruins today but I loved walking through it anyway. For some reason it made quite an impact on me. One of those deja vous moments almost. I took lots of pictures and of course took a couple of the remaining windows. Enjoy.

Nice pics. Funny how it seems that people back in the day took the time to do such wonderful work. Dont see windows like that on new buildings.

Wow. First thing I thought of was St. Andrew's Abbey in Scotland. Right country. Wrong ruin. What a marvel.

Glad you enjoyed Edinburgh. Had you heard of walk talk tours? - the downloadable audio tours of Edinburgh, York, Chester, Manchester and London to play on your MP3 or iPod. Ideal for independent travellers like you.

Take a look at www.walktalktour.com and see what you think.
