A couple out riding their bikes today stopped me as I was on the way back from the laundry room and asked if I was the lady who did the blog. So, yesterday was a beach day for me---finally. I find now that I'm a resident with other things to do, I don't get to the beach nearly enough. Yesterday morning, Mr. Snowbird and I went for a 2 mile jaunt down the beach. We walked from Nerita St. to the Summer of 42 cottage. Last night we attended the opening night of Stars on Ice. I have long been a SOI fan. It was formed in 1986 by Scott Hamilton. Scott grew up in Bowling Green and began his skating career in the arena there. Even after he was a star, he would come back every other year and skate in the local ice show. Dr. Amber, one of the vets at CROW, is an amazing artist. Each year she does a pencil drawing for CROW's Art Auction and each year her drawing goes for quite a large amount. Last year, she did a drawing of one of CROW's patients, a Gopher Tortoise, who was released. The person who won the bid gave the picture to Amber's father. We live in Periwinkle Park which is a combination of a campground and trailer park. Every year, the Park staff throws a big Mardi Gras Party. We have new neighbors next door. They are great people. They are from Wyoming. He has a terminal lung disease so bought the house for her to retire to when he is gone. For someone who is ill, he has been working his backside off. This evening we went to Pinocchio's for ice cream (yum!!) then drove on down to the Fishing Pier near the Lighthouse. Yesterday I finally got around to going to West Gulf to walk on the beach. The parking areas on West Gulf are reserved for residents with A stickers. This is a real perk in the winter months when the other beaches are crowded with tourists. West Gulf is populated mostly by private homes so it tends to be less crowded.I tend to like to park at Access #6. I'm not sure why.Maybe it's the view you
