Mellow Yellow Monday-Flowers in the Rockies

I love this meme called Mellow Yellow Monday. Lots of yellow pictures to brighten up a Monday. After you look at mine, hop on over and see lots more.

I was going through a bunch of pictures and scanning some of them. I found these that I took some years ago in the Canadian Rockies never dreaming I would use them years later on my blog. Heck, I don't even think there were blogs then!

Public Record

I always love reading the Police Blotter in our local newspaper. Not because there might be someone I know but because they are often so darn funny. Here are just a few of today's entries.

Public Record Docket
From the public records of the Findlay Police Department and the Hancock County Sheriff's Office:

Police Department

A mother and son in the 600 block of East Lincoln Street argued over the son's late sleeping habits and lack of employment Wednesday evening.

A man was arrested for domestic violence after biting a romantic interest in the hand while the couple drove in the 1700 block of Lima Avenue on Wednesday evening.

A 17-year-old was arrested for theft at the Trenton Avenue BP gas station Wednesday afternoon. The juvenile was nabbed when a clerk noted him leaving the premises with “a bulge about the size of a 20-ounce Mountain Dew” in his pants.

Sheriff's Office

Deputies were called to rural Arlington on Aug. 20 in response to a loose bull.

A Van Buren woman reported receiving threatening phone calls and text messages from an ex-roommate Tuesday. One text message threatened “to round” the woman.

A Findlay woman “had second thoughts” after giving her husband's credit card number to a man over the telephone Tuesday. The man was asking that $110 be sent to India in exchange for $5,000 in federal stimulus money.

Ruby Tuesday-Baseballs and Autographs

Since I grew up in Michigan, my favorite baseball team was the Detroit Tigers. For years, I would listen to them on the radio and always loved the announcer, Ernie Harwell. On my birthday last year, a friend of mine sent me this baseball. Pretty cool, huh?
OK, I know you are all busy checking out everyone's Ruby Tuesday but take the time to bookmark me and drop back to check out my blog. I am a retired Special Ed teacher who now spends most of her time on Sanibel Island, Florida which is a Sanctuary Island for wildlife. I volunteer for a wildlife hospital. I am also the proud grandma of 5 wonderful grandkids and brag about them often!! I also have a blog called Branches and Roots where I talk about genealogy and my ancestors. OK, enough about me. So if you really want to see red go to Work of the Poet

Wanna Read a Really Great Book Series?

When my daughter got married in 2000, she and and her hubby had their best friends as their attendants. Karen had her brother Dave, Bill who lives with us, and Carla, Karen, and Kim friends from throughout her life. Michael had his brother, his sister, and 3 female friends. Ok, not your most traditional attendants but why wouldn't you have your best friends--male or female?

Little did we know that a few years later, one of Michael's female attendants, Chelsea Cain, would be a New York Times Best Selling Author!! Chelsea grew up on a commune in Iowa. She actually had written a couple of books before Karen and Michael's wedding one of which was about when she and her mom returning to visit the farm where the commune was located. And she wrote a couple after the wedding but in September 2007 she came out with a book entitled Heartsick.
A description of the book states "Det. Archie Sheridan led the Beauty Killer Task Force for ten years, before the Beauty Killer (Gretchen Lowell) caught him, tortured him for ten days and then mysteriously let him go and turned herself in. Now it’s two years later and Archie, addicted to pain pills and still obsessed with Gretchen, is called off medical leave to hunt a second serial killer. Pink-haired girl journalist Susan Ward is assigned to profile Archie. She knows he’s hiding something. But what? (It’s bigger than a breadbox.)"

I just found out about the book earlier this summer so of course I had to read it. And I was hooked! So after I finished Heartsick I rushed out and bought the 2nd book in the series, Sweetheart. The description of this books states, "Serial killer Gretchen Lowell escapes. ’Nuff said." Ok, I will warn you that these books are graphic and a bit gory, but wow, what a journey they take you on.

Chelsea's 3rd book of the series, Evil at Heart, comes out September 1. I can hardly wait. And the description of this book--"Det. Archie Sheridan is in the nuthouse. Serial killer Gretchen Lowell is still at large. That doesn’t seem fair, does it? Bodies start turning up. But is Gretchen to blame, or is it a wily bunch of psychotic followers? Archie and Susan are on the case. Voted one of Amazon’s “Best Books of 2009… So Far.”"

Wow, voted Amazon's Best Book of 2009 and it hasn't even been released yet!! Way to go Chelsea. Anyway, if you like detective murder mysteries, pick up these books. Obviously start with Heartsick and you will be hooked.

Mellow Yellow Monday-Classic Cars

Several blogs that I follow participate in Mellow Yellow every Monday and since I have a lot of yellow pictures, I thought this sounded like fun. This past weekend, there was a Classic Car Festival (Car Tunes) here in town. I'm not into cars all that much but did take a few pictures. Here are a couple of mellow yellow classics.

This one really needs some flowers and peace signs painted on it.

Classic Cars

I just realized that I haven't really blogged about much of anything lately. I guess it's because one day is pretty much like the other what with taking most of my worldly goods to the barn for the auction or cleaning out cupboards or separating all of my pictures to be given to my son, my daughter, my niece, etc. However, this weekend, I did get to see my niece and her family. Since we haven't seen each other for quite a few years, my son and his family came too so that they could all meet. And can you believe we didn't take any pictures!!!

After the niece left, son, grandson, granddaughter, hubby and I walked downtown to see the Classic Car Festival. 4 blocks of Main Street were closed off and loaded with classic cars of all sorts. I'm not really into cars but I did take a bunch of pictures of some really neat ones, strange ones, and a couple I wouldn't mind owning. So here goes.

A view of Main Street. This was a rather different car made by Willys in Toledo. My granddaughter enjoying the view.
Corvette Row
Drag-u-la. Yup, that's a casket!
The license plate says it all.
The Pink Panther
The Shock Top Brew Pub on Wheels. Notice the tap on the trunk.
And, of course, my favorite-a Rolls Royce Silver Wraith. Pure Luxury!!

Even though I'm not really a car person, it was fun just being with family for the day.

Mellow Yellow Monday-Chihuly Glass

Several blogs that I follow participate in Mellow Yellow every Monday and since I have a lot of yellow pictures, I thought this sounded like fun. A couple of weeks ago, my friend and I went to Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus. They had a display of Chihuly Glass and of course I took LOTS of pictures of the glass in the conservatory and in the gift shop.

Camera Critters-Pesky Raven

It's been awhile since I have posted on Camera Critters. When I was in Ireland, I took quite a few critter pictures, one of which was this rather pesky crow.
