Going a Bit Overboard

We have new neighbors next door. They are great people. They are from Wyoming. He has a terminal lung disease so bought the house for her to retire to when he is gone. For someone who is ill, he has been working his backside off. We thought the place was in really good shape but he has been putting in new ceilings, tile, paint etc. They also have a deck which is over the water like ours is. It isn't as big as ours or as wide and I don't think I've ever really seen any of the former two owners even use it. Of course, there wasn't much to see from the deck since the vegetation had pretty much taken over. So Ed decided to do something about that. He hired Renee, the Park caretaker, to do a little trimming. I was thrilled as it gave us a better view of the creek also. They even got on the other side of the creek which is city owned land and cut out some stuff. But, I think they might just have gone a bit overboard.

Our Neighbor (Make That Ex Neighbor) Is At It Again

Well, she's at it again. I had a call from the new owner of our house yesterday. She just wanted to tell me that a bill for us had arrived (even though we had a forwarding address at the PO) and that she would be mailing it to us. I asked her how things were going and if there had been any problems.

So, she proceeds to tell me that they found a note on their door one day signed "Your Neighbor". She read it to me and I knew immediately who had sent it. She said she knew it wasn't the neighbors on either side. I told her it was the gal across the street and she said that's what she had figured. The note, nicely written but you could read the sarcasm dripping from it, said that even though everyone in the neighborhood had dogs and cats it was too bad that their dog stood in the open window all day and barked. Ok, we put up with years of barking dogs next door (both sides) and down the street so I do understand the annoyance. BUT--as Emily said, if the woman would have come over and knocked on their door, introduced herself and mentioned their barking dog, it would have been different. But to leave a note on your door and don't even have the courtesy to sign it!!!

I'm sooooo glad that I don't have to put up with that woman anymore!

Friendly Neighbors--NOT!

These are the houses across the street from our house. See those cars? Those belong to me and to Bill who lives with us. We have lived in our house for 34 years and for all of those 34 years we have parked our cars out in front. We would park them in front of our house but that is a fire lane so that is impossible. And we can only park one car in the barn so that is where Mr. Snowbird parks his car. When the kids lived at home, we actually had 3 cars that needed to be parked on the street. All has been well for 34 years. The house where the cars are parked has passed through many owners since we have live here. As I said, all has been well for 34 years.

This spring a new owner bought the house. During my first garage sale in June, she came over and introduced herself. She seemed very nice. She is a single mom who does a lot of babysitting. I haven't seen a lot of her all summer since we never seem to be outside at the same time.

I have to admit that we have had all three cars parked out front most of the summer due to the barn being full of my garage sale stuff and because the contractors needed to get into the back yard much of the summer. And I will also admit that there is a city ordinance that you can't leave a car parked in one spot for longer that 2 or 3 days without moving it and I did tend to forget that. But, as I said, all has been well for 34 years. No complaints from any of the previous owners in any of the 3 houses that we park in front of. Until last Friday!!

Bill came home from work and found a note on my windshield. When he brought it in to me, I was astonished to say the least. I'm afraid a few choice words escaped my lips.
