Wordless Wednesday-Something For a Hot Day

I thought that maybe you might like to cool off on a hot summer day.

I know you are all busy checking out everyone's Wordless Wednesday but take the time to bookmark me and drop back to check out my blog. I am a retired Special Ed teacher who now spends most of her time on Sanibel Island, Florida volunteering for a Wildlife hospital rescuing and rehabbing wildlife. I even dumpster dive for injured Raccoons!! I am also the proud grandma of 5 wonderful grandkids and brag about them often!! I also have a blog called Branches and Roots where I talk about genealogy and my ancestors. OK, enough about me. Back to Wordless Wednesday.

Way To Go Sam!

I got the following email from my son today. Looks like my grandson, Sam, had a great night last night and hopefully will have another great night tonight.

"Sam's baseball team started the year at 0 - 7 and have somehow turned things around. They upset the top seed in the play-offs last night. Sam had a hit and a walk, a double play at first and stole home. Yes.....slow kid Sam stole home. The championship game is tonight. He is very excited."

This from a very proud Grandma. You rock Sam!

Happy 4th of July Everyone

Last year we arrived in San Diego at about 11:00 a.m. on the 4th of July. My daughter picked us up at the airport and we drove straight to the park on the waterfront to lay out our blanket and stake out our spot for the evening's activities. Later that afternoon, we returned with the whole family. Here are a few pictures of the evening's festivities.

Erin, Noah, Ethan and Luka all ready for the celebration to begin.

We all enjoyed a supper of pizza.

Erin had a ball with her cousins who she hadn't seen in almost a year and obviously, they had a ball with her too.

My beautiful daughter and her handsome hubby take a second from feeding kids to have their picture taken.

There were lots of boats sailing out in the harbor but this one caught my eye. Yeah, I know, I already posted it once this week!!

This is one of three barges spread up and down the harbor loaded with fireworks which all go off simultaneously. Amazing. We could see fireworks from all three plus displays from Coronado and a ways up the coast. Quite the show.

Obviously we weren't alone. This is why we staked out our spot so early in the day.

Almost showtime. Everyone is getting anxious.

Well, everyone except maybe Ethan who was tired and hungry and had no idea what the 4th of July was all about.

And finally, the end to a perfect day. Of course, I didn't take pictures of us fighting the crowds and walking a mile to the car with 4 kids!!

But, anyway, Happy 4th of July to all of you. I hope you have a great day and evening.

And the Winner Is-----

That's my girl crossing the plate. And yes, the Purple People Eaters won their championship game Monday night 3-0. My girl had a hit and scored one of the runs. Tuesday night, her All Star Team also won and she got two hits, scored a run and had the longest hit of the game.

Way to go Erin. I am one PROUD Grandma!!!
