The Turkey Vulture is obviously not the prettiest of our feathered friends. But he/she does serve a purpose in the circle of life. We often have these as patients at the wildlife hospital where I volunteer. I took these pictures on a trip to the Everglades last year.

That is an intersting bird. It looks like it has no feathers on it's head.
My Father loved vultures...I'm not sure why exactly LOL. He even painted a couple of cartoon vultures on the back of our van (on the spare tire cover) when we lived in Florida with some saying that I can't quite remember...:-P I think they're kinda creepy looking...but I understand their purpose.
I think they're beautiful in their own ugly way :)
Yep, she's not winning any beauty contests! They look so awkward when they move.

I saw one eating something in the road and it scared the crap out of me.
Ewwww! See those birds all the time circling over the downtown Tampa bank buildings.Sign of the times?
Is it true that they vomit some ultra smelly stuff to chase off other birds that want their food? I saw a couple on the lighthouse beach once with a big fish carcass, and it was fascinating to watch them from a distance. But they are kind of threatening.
