Eleven years ago, a small group of residents of Periwinkle Park met for a potluck dinner on the Sanibel causeway and to observe sunset and moonrise just minutes apart. This only happens on the evening of the full moon. The potluck dinner has continued since then. Tonight, we met for the first time this season.

Full moonrise.It was fairly breezy on the beach tonight but not chilly. The food was great as was the company. And of course the stars of the evening were the sunset and moonrise.

The sunset surely was beautiful last evening. I saw the reddish glow as we went out for dinner last night, but missed the actual sunset. Thanks for sharing it, and the moonrise!

Wow! That is way too cool. I would love to do something like that. When I was in FL we noticed how quickly your sun sets...our sun goes down very slowly across the whole horizon. Sometimes our moon is really big, too, and always out most of the day in the winter. I took some photos of it tonight, but it's -1 so I didn't hang out too long to really get good ones!
