OK, so I can't blog about some things I used to blog about but life goes on! I did volunteer at that place today for 5 1/2 hours. My feet hurt! My back aches! I am whipped! I probably lost 5 pounds from sweating! Oops I'm a lady. Ladies only perspire. Nope, that's wrong. I was SWEATING!!! But, I enjoyed being with the people I was with and with the other little ones. Enough said!!
And these are some of the shells that Ike sent our way. I went out shelling to Access 6 on Thursday and Friday. I'm not one to go out in the surf so I did most of my shelling in the shell piles and up on the dunes. I found two of the best Olives and several nice Shark's Eyes up near the grass. The little shell that is above the Shark's Eyes is actually a tree snail which I found on the beach. I am always amazed at the different colors of the Scallops. And as you can see, I love Turkey Wings--the shell kind, not the edible kind.
Yesterday was our friend, Steve's, birthday. We went out for dinner then went back to their house for cake. I love going to Steve and Diana's because they have 5 of the greatest Greyhounds you could ever hope to meet. They have Cooper, Commander, Fargo, Magic, and Rockin' Robyn who is their newest. Here they are getting their treats. Ok, so there are only 4 there. Magic is missing.
This is Magic. She is very, very shy and I had to chase her into the bedroom to even get her picture. She will not let me pet her unless she comes up behind me and I don't look at her. She would let me pet her all evening if we did it that way.
Note:The power just died for about 2 minutes. I was right in the middle of my blog. Thank goodness it saved everything except the next picture. So, on with the blog.
This is Cooper. Cooper is by far my favorite of the 5 dogs--although I've got to say that Robyn is gaining ground rapidly. Coopie is the most loving, kind, tender, amazing dog I ever seen. He would let you hug him all night if you wanted to. And there are times when you just need to hug a puppy, or kitty or other critters--you know what I mean. (Wink, wink)
So, life goes on and I continue to do all the stuff I did before. I just can't share it all with you guys. Sorry.

Now, you can't blame me for getting shells before you got there. :-) I wasn't at access 6. You have some nice shells too, and a bunch of nice turkey wings. I like those too! I thought I was the only person who did.
Awww shelling. That is a SD thing for me and not an Oahu thing. We don't really have beach shells here. Something I am looking fwd to in SD.
Hey, Farmer Files... I hate to disappoint you but we don't really have much shelling here in San Diego, either. Sigh...
Maybe we should descend on Sanibel one weekend together to do some serious shelling!
Hey FF and Shama, you are invited any time!
Magic looks like the greyhound I used to have, Ramsey (actually Cy's Kid Ramsey). He was such a good dog. He didn't bark or fuss but if he really, really wanted something, he would look at me sideways and sigh dramatically. What a little drama queen. But such a good dog.
Ah turkey wings -- I really like angel wings -- must be that for both of us, opposites attract!
I think greyhounds are the best dogs!Kudos to your friends for rescuing some.
Glad you are getting settled back in and into your routine.
Are the greyhounds retired racers? I hear they make great pets.
Nice haul for the shells post Ike. Hope your home in Ohio does OK with Ike's leftovers. Is Bob still staying there?
Glad things are getting back to normal in paradise:-)
Those dogs are beautiful. Your friends are wonderful people.
All of the dogs are retired racers. Diana actually started the rescue group up in Louisville, Ky. She has had more greyhounds than I can count. They really are great dogs. I have so much fun going over there and seeing them all.
I had a juve mourning dove that had an injury that always happens on a Sunday, but the SPCA had someone on staff to take it. Cute little thing..
I forgot to save that I love seashells. I had a collection as a kid, but there aren't too many on the shore of Lake Erie..LOL..
You found some wonderful colors - look at all that orange! w00t!
