Since we will be heading north in a couple of weeks, I have been spending as much time as I can on my wonderful deck. This morning I was out there, soaking up the sun (but not too much since I have had skin cancer) and reading my latest favorite author (local author Randy Wayne White)(remember me telling you about the booksigning) when I heard an Osprey screeching. Now, believe me, these birds are LOUD! They can be waaayyy up in the air and you can still hear them loud and clear. I finally spotted the one making all the noise, then I heard another and another. There were three Ospreys flying around in circles. One of the birds was considerably smaller than the other two and instead of soaring on the wind was madly flapping his wings and doing a lot of diving. What I was observing was a mom and dad Osprey teaching their offspring to fly! It was pretty amazing. Finally the little one had had it and with a lot of flapping and diving, headed back to the nest. I love hanging out on my deck!
Oh, and if I ever see him I will try to get a picture of the bullfrog (or whatever kind of frog he is) who keeps me awake half the night croaking! That is the downside to my beautiful deck.

How Cool is That?

Oh wow, that is so cool! The only wildlife I get in my backyard is a bunch of lizards. Oh! And a couple birds are building a nest in my jasmine. I think Noah might be able to get up high enough to see the babies when they come.
I love ospreys. One of my favorite things is a sunrise or sunset walk on lighthouse beach, where I often see the local pair fishing and working so hard for those noisy chicks! I would have loved to see the flying lesson!
BYW, I picked up a Randy Wayne White book (Hunter's Moon) because of your post! I read one years ago before I knew much about Sanibel, and I'm really looking forward to reading him now.
You're going north soon? But, but, but we haven't met up yet! :( Does the blog go into hibernation while you are north, or do you just keep on bloggin' ?
Tink, I will definitely keep blogging--just not as much about CROW and Sanibel. Probably a LOT more about the grandkids, Scottish Festivals, Clan Montgomery etc.
And yes, we do need to meet one of these days. I also want to meet Gail one of these days too. Hopefully next season.
Beautiful picture and story. We have a fox that hangs out in our back yard. We live next to Oak Creek near Sedona, Arizona.
Check out my blog this week. I am blogging about depression and suicide to raise awareness and as a tribute to my nephew who just shot himself last week.
Annie
What a neat experience to see parents teaching their child like that. My frog-obsessed seven year-old would love to meet your bullfrog too!
